The PeterStar transport network is one of the largest in the city in terms of the length of its fiber optic cable exceeding 3000km. Since the beginning of 1992 the Company has invested over USD179m in the transport network. PeterStar won an award of the RF Goscomsvyaz in the field of quality, and is among top 30 largest telecommunications companies in Russia as ranked by the Expert magazine.
Based on the results of 2003 PeterStar became a laureate of the VII All-Russian Competition “Best Russian Enterprises”, nominated for the highest financial efficiency.
The Company is included in the top ten largest Russian ISP with the status LARGE according to the European organization RIPE NCC (a status of large Internet registrar on the RF territory).
Based on the results of 2004 the Comapny was among top 20 taxpayers of Saint Petersburg within the scope of a non-commercial social project conceived by the Saint Petersburg Government.
In 2006 PeterStar implemented a complex program on subscriber access network retrofitting. New equipment sets from the well-known manufacturer Raisecom were installed on all network segments.
Said equipment was meant for new-generation networks, providing vast capabilities when applied on fiber optic and wireless lines. The same year PeterStar obtained the permit from the Federal Service for Supervision in the Field of Communications (Rossvyaznadzor) to operate a zonal telephone node and render intrazonal telephone communication services in Saint Petersburg. In 2006 the Company implemented a large-scale project on rendering communication services during the G8 Summit.
In 2007 the Company obtained the license for the provision of IP telephony services in eight RF regions. In December 2007 PeterStar launched the provision of Wi-Fi services in Murmansk. In May 2007 the Company strengthened its positions on the Petersburg telephony market by signing a deal on acquiring a Petersburg carrier - Linia1.
From July 2007 PeterStar is a member of the Synterra Group of Companies.
