11/05/2006   PeterStar Commissioned New Zonal Communication Node

The PeterStar Company has obtained a permit of the Federal Communications Supervision Service (Rossvayznadzor) to operate a zonal telephone node and render intrazonal telephone communication services in Saint Petersburg.

PeterStar is the first operator in Saint Petersburg that commissioned a zonal telephone communication node in accordance with the new standard and legal acts. Pursuant to these new rules the companies furnishing local telephone communication services are allowed to transit traffic to national and international communication operators via intrazonal communication operators only.

PeterStar’s zonal telephone node is arranged based on AXE-10 Ericsson – a modern high-capacity transit switching exchange. There was totally invested in the exchange USD500 thousand. The first local communication operators interconnected to the PeterStar zonal telephone node were Web Plus and Linia 1.

License to provide intrazonal telephone communication services in the Northwest Federal Okrug was obtained by PeterStar in November 2005. In the near future the Company is planning to launch the provision of zonal telephone communication services in Pskov.
