06/04/2006 “ADSL Comfort” Service Becoming Cheaper
The PeterStar Company, one of the leading telecommunications operators of St. Petersburg, is announcing cost reduction for the existing, as well as introducing new unlimited, tariffs for the “ADSL Comfort” Internet leased access service. The service is available for PeterStar’s subscribers – residents of Vassilievski Island.
Connection charge has been reduced by more than 3.5 times. Now the residents will be able to arrange at home a high-speed communication channel for 800 rubles only. PeterStar is also introducing new unlimited tariffs: 64 Kbps – 15 c.u. per month, 256 Kbps – 30 c.u. per month, 1024 Kbps – 50 c.u. per month. Moreover, other unlimited tariffs are being reduced: 128 Kbps – down to 20 c.u., 512 Kbps – down to 40 c.u. a month.
“ Interest of home users towards the Internet leased access service is going up and what is more, is being stirred up by advertising campaigns of key ISP’s. In any case we believe that our two unlimited tariffs – 64 Kbps for 15 c.u. a month and 1 Mbps for 50 c.u. – are beyond comparison. This allows us to keep the leadership in terms of connections within the coverage of our ADSL network – in Vassilievski Island”, - said the Commercial Director of ZAO PeterStar Peter Akulshin.
From 1997 PeterStar owns line and cable structures in Vassilievski Island and serves about 26 thousand subscribers – residents of the district. Together with legal entities PeterStar serves about 40 thousand telephone lines under the tariffs of OAO North-West Telecom Affiliate (PTN). The number of clients connected by the company under ADSL technology is around 1000 subscribers.
In 2004 the company carried out additional work on expanding the capacity of telephone exchanges, as well as modernizing line and cable structures on the segment of Vassilievski Island that allowed the company to increase the speed of network access up to 4 Mbps over ordinary copper wires.
