07/08/2006 PeterStar Provided G8 Summit With Communication
Within the framework of the Summit PeterStar appeared jointly with the Synterra Company that won tenders held by the Administrative Department of the RF President and the RF Ministry of Information Technology and Communications on the construction of telecommunications infrastructure to hold the Summit.
Project on constructing the communication sites to be used in the course of G8 work has recently become one of the most large-scaled for the company. Within the scope of this project PeterStar constructed fiber-optic routes: - the Palace of Congresses State Complex – Pulkovo Airport, the Palace of Congresses State Complex - the Large Palace of Peterghof.
PeterStar also provided numbering capacity in the amount of 3500 numbers, installed and was maintaining the complex of equipment for the provision of telephone communication, broadband Internet access and wireless Wi-Fi Internet access services. Local and intrazonal communication services were arranged via the PeterStar network, as well as national and international traffic transmission from the communication sites to the long distance carriers Rostelecom and MTT and Internet traffic transiting via PeterStar’s external IP gateways. Along with the above PeterStar provided the functioning of the television images transmission network in the new high definition TV format from the event sites.
In the context of meetings of the leaders of the Great Eight and invited states PeterStar performed the orders for providing the delegations of Great Britain, Germany, India, Italy, Canada, USA, France, Japan with integrated communication services on the territory of Strelna, Petrodvorets, the Pulkovo-1 Airport, in the Pribaltiskaya Hotel, Pulkovskaya Hotel, and the Kempinski Moika 22 Hotel.
In addition to the official delegations communication was provided for the national delegations of Kanada, USA and Japan at their work places in the press centers in Strelna and the Pribaltiskaya and Pulkovskaya Hotels. There was additionally arranged about 450 work places for the journalists covering the summit, each equipped with high-speed Internet access, telephone lines and all necessary office machinery.
For the convenience of journalists PeterStar implemented direct videoconferencing between the cottage township in Strelna, the International Press Center, the Pribaltiskaya Hotel, and the Kempinski Moika 22 Hotel. This allowed the journalists to receive on a twenty-four hour basis information on the summit events directly from the participants of such events. Moreover PeterStar developed a mobile office of the American TV Company NBC on the Palace Square, from which live commentaries were arranged on certain events.
