14/03/2006 PeterStar Modernizing Subscriber Network
The PeterStar Company has started implementing a comprehensive program on subscriber access network modernization.
The program is based on last mile reequipping, i.e. replacing equipment on the segment from the exchange – switching node – communication network up to subscriber terminals. New equipment sets made by a well-known manufacturer Raisecom will be installed on all segments. This equipment aimed at new-generation networks provides for a broad usability in the fiber and wireless line environment. Raisecom’s equipment offers important characteristics such as high quality, efficiency and compactness.
“New equipment for a telecom operator is equivalent to changing its inner philosophy; therefore companies are very serious about it and do not make decisions in one day. As a result of prolonged testing PeterStar made a revolutionary decision – to at once install Raisecom’s new equipment at all telephone nodes of the company, i.e. at about 130 points of presents all over the city. This will allow us to ensure within the shortest term the relevant technical support for long-term and advanced development of the PeterStar network”, - comments Victor Koresh, General Director of ZAO PeterStar.
By applying this new Raisecom equipment the PeterStar network will change to a new development turn, considerably improving the quality of service for customers. By the end of 2006 PeterStar will have invested about $300 thousand in the project on subscriber access network modernization. To date the first modernization stage has been completed at 50 PeterStar nodes in St. Petersburg.
In 2006 the total volume of the company’s investment in the communication infrastructure development will be kept at the level of $15 million.
