Dial-up connection to the Internet uses the existing communication
channels of the city telephone network as data transmission medium. In
this case data rates do not exceed 56 Kbps. Such a rate restriction is
caused by technical characteristics of equipment used.
For dial-up access a customer requires a modem and appropriate software.
Via a usual telephone line your modem is connected to the Provider’s
modem pool.
For the purpose of service provision PeterStar supports in St. Petersburg
a modem pool providing the ITU V.90, V.34+, V.32, V22 standard of modulation
and others. The PeterStar modem pool counts over 1200 lines.
