TechnologyõDSL
technologies
are the most efficient solution aimed at maximally increasing the volume
of data transmitted over the existing telephone lines. Usage of these
technologies for high-speed access is especially noteworthy due to their
use as a transmission medium for the existing cable infrastructure of
local telephone networks. This allows service providers to save money
and quicker (and at reasonable prices) create a big number of services
for their subscribers.
The xDSL family includes the following technologies: HDSL, SDSL, ADSL,
RDSL etc.; it is also possible to attribute to the õDSL technology the
digital channel organization under LRE (Long Reach Ethernet) technology.
PeterStar
ISDN Network
is built on digital 5ESS switches made by Lucent Technologies. Connections
within the PeterStar ISDN network are organized under the ISDN PRI protocol
being an intelligent high-speed protocol of exchange interaction.
Subscriber’s line equipment can be installed both within the 5ESS service
zone (in this case they are called ISLU - Integrated Services Line Unit)
and on remote units RISLU (Remote Integrated Services Line Unit). That’s
why the PeterStar ISDN network coverage gradually expands. At present
PeterStar is capable of providing ISDN base rate services by copper pair
in practically any district of St. Petersburg, while in April 1997, when
the service was announced, it was available in the central districts
and Vassilievski Island only.
Home
PNA
Home PNA technology was initially aimed at combining home and small office
PC’s into a local area network. Home PNA possesses a number of unique
advantages. It makes possible to work at speeds of up to 10 Mbps at a
distance of up to 500 m with a random environment topology.
