Dial-Up Networking Settings For Windows XP To Work With PeterStar Node

1. Creating a new connection. At the left bottom press the button Start, then go through items All programs, Accessories, Communications and click Network Connections. A window opens, on which you need to click Create a new connection.

2. Start New Connection Wizard. Press the button Next and follow the Wizard prompts as shown in the figures below; to go to the next item press the button Next:

The connection name should be specified here; we specified “Peterstar” as an example. You may type any other name.

Specify in this item the telephone number of the PeterStar modem pool - 3203370.

“User name” - star is typed here as an example only; when setting up a connection with the Internet you need to type the login given at the registration.

The tick “Make this the default Internet connection” is to be put if you want this connection to be used as the default connection. That is, when any of your programs accesses the Internet, a connection will be established automatically using this connection being set up.

If you want the connection to PeterStar icon to appear on your desktop, tick off “Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop”. To complete this connection setting up press the button “Finish”.

3. Now the label Peterstar appears; double click it. You see the PeterStar connection window Connect Peterstar; click Properties.

4. On the opened window go to the bookmark Networking. Tick off the components “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” and “Client for Microsoft Network” if they haven’t been set.

5. Press the button Settings and put ticks as shown in the figure. Then press “OK”.

6. Select the component “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” by left clicking, and press the button Properties. Fill in the fields as shown in the figure. After filling in the fields press “OK”.

7. Press Close on the window Peterstar Properties. Press Dial on the window Peterstar Connection. After dialing the number your PC establishes a connection with the server PeterStar, and at the right bottom of the task panel an additional icon appears in the form of two blinking monitors to inform you of the status of connection.
