Dial-Up Networking Settings For Windows NT To Work With PeterStar Node
1. Start the icon My Computer located on your desktop and by double clicking
select Dial-Up Networking. If Remote Access Protocol hasn’t been added, it
will be added automatically. If it has been added, you need to configure it:
press Control Panel, then the icon Network, the bookmark Services and Properties (see step 3).
2. Press the button Install Modem on the window Add
RAS Device. Select the modem
installed, and then press OK.
3. On the window Remote Access Setup you should press the button Configure and
mark in Port Usage - Dial out only, and press OK. Then press the button Network,
and in Dial out protocols mark only ÒÑÐ/IP. Thereafter click Continue. You
will be prompted to restart your PC. Press OK.
4. Your next step will be the creation of a connection with PeterStar. For
that click New, specify the name of connection, for instance PeterStar, and
on the next window Server press Next in the dialog Ñheck
all that apply, mark I am calling the Internet. Then in Phone
Number: specify the modem pool telephone
number: 320-3370. Now to set up the created connection press More and
Edit Entry and modem properties. On the window Edit phonebook entry make the following
changes in the bookmarks:
- Basic: leave unchanged, for all settings have been done above;
- Server: select the protocol PPP, WindowsNT, Windows95
Plus, Internet out
of the supported protocols leave only TCP/IP;
- In TCP/IP Setting: IP Address - Server
assigned IP address; Specify name
server address is included, Primary DNS - 217.195.65.9; Secondary
DNS – 217.195.66.253.
Remove the flag: Enable software compression;
- Script: None is marked.
- Security: You need to select only Accept any authentication
including clear text.
Now you may complete the installation.
5. After the installation you may establish a connection by clicking Dial.
On the window Connect to PeterStar specify Username and Password, and tick
off Save Password; your name and password will be transmitted automatically.
6. To complete communication click the icon Dial-Up
Networking and Hung Up.
