Netscape Communicator
Start the program Netscape Communicator. In the menu “Edit” enter the item “Preferences...”; the Nåtscape settings window will open.
Double click on the item “Mail & Newsgroups” to open its content and select the section “Mail Servers”; in the subitem “Incoming Mail Servers” press on the right of the button “Add”.
Now you need to specify the incoming mail server name, its type and the user name.
- Specify in the field “Server Name:” the incoming mail server name - pop3.peterstar.net
- Specify in the field “Server Type:” the server type – “POP3 Server”.
- User name is the name you specified before the symbol "@" when
created your mailbox. For example, if your address is sidorov@peterstar.ru,
the user name will be sidorov. Specify this name in the field “User
Name:”.
If necessary, you may tick off “Remember Password”. Netscape Mail will remember
your password after receiving mail for the first time. At this point you may
also specify how often you want to check for mail and whether it is necessary
to automatically download it to your PC. Press the button “OK”.
Now it is necessary to specify the outgoing mail server name. For that in
the subitem “Outgoing Mail Server” in the line “Outgoing
mail (SMTP) server” specify relay.peterstar.net, and in the section “Use
Secure Socket Layer...”select “Never”.
Now specify your personal data (name, e-mail address) in the format in which
you want a receiver to see it. For that select on the left of the same window the section “Identity”; on the right of the line “Your
Name:” specify your name in English in the format (Sidor Sidorov); in the line “Email
address:” specify your e-mail address.
Now close the window “Preferences” by pressing the button “OK”. Your Netscape
Mail is set and ready for operation.
