Instruction on Call-Back Service Registration, Installation and Usage
1. Description of Call Back
Call Back is a technical solution based on the PeterStar Internet node and
the user system, allowing a Dial-Up connection to be initiated from the node
side (rather than from the Subscriber side as happens usually). This makes
it possible to save money on the time period during which the modem occupies
a telephone line. Now this technology becomes more and more important due to
the telecommunication operators charging a per-minute price for subscribers’
outgoing calls, while demand for Internet services grows from day to day.
Everything is very simple – the longer time in the Internet, the lower the
payment. You may establish an Internet connection with a call back to be made
by the modem to your PC (Call Back) in the following manner:
- Using network remote access you are getting connected to the PeterStar
access server.
- The server checks the username and password.
- If the username and password are correct, disconnection takes place and
your modem switches over to the call-waiting mode.
- In a certain period (5 to 20 seconds) our server makes a call to your telephone
number.
- Your modem answers this call back, an Internet connection is being established
and you proceed working in the Internet as usual.
2. Service Registration
To take advantage of the “Call-Back” service you need to register it. To register
the service you may use the guest login. Having got connected using the guest
login go to the server www.peterstar.ru to the section “Account
Management” and enter your Login and Password
to the relevant fields. On your personal statistics page click on the reference
“Call-Back Service”. A new window opens; enter in the field “Telephone” your
telephone number our server will be making calls to, i.e. the telephone number
your modem is connected to. Having entered the telephone number press the button
“Create”.

3. Service Installation and Usage
The service "Call-Back" doesn’t practically require any additional
setting of your software. You only need to put :c (with no space) after your
Login. If your Login is ps001, specify ps001:c in the column “Username” on
the connection window (as shown in the figure). The Password doesn’t change.

Then click on the button “Establish Communication”. If all parameters have
been specified and set correctly, your modem dials the number as usual, checks
the “Username” and “Password”; thereafter a window pops up, in which you need
to just press the button “OK” (as shown in the figure). Please note that this
call will be tariffed under the tariff “Session Access – Direct Call”. As tests
have shown, the amount to be withdrawn from your account for this call makes
on average 0 to 2 cents.

After that your modem switches over to the call-waiting mode.

In 20 seconds you will receive an incoming call. Do not pick up the phone,
if any. The modems will interconnect and the “Username” and “Password” will
be checked once more. Then an Internet connection will be established tariffed
under the tariff “Session Access – Call Back”.
Note: If you use one of the following tariff
plans: “Home”, “Home Plus”, “Day
Off”, “Night”, “Night Plus” during the time
provided for by one of these tariffs, your connection under “Session
Access – Direct Call and Call Back” is deemed paid. The Call-Back service is available
only for direct city telephone numbers of St. Petersburg.
