Dial-Up Internet Access
Dial-up access is the most accessible way to connect to the Internet. Data
is transmitted over the existing communication channels of the city’s telephone
network.
PeterStar universal cards are available at all metro stations, Sberbank branches,
and computer and communications. (See full
list of dealers). One card provides both Internet access and IP telephony
services. Cards are available in nominal values of 40,
25,
10 and 5
c.u.
For dial-up access, a client must have a modem and the relevant software.
Over a usual telephone line, your modem connects to the provider’s modem
pool. Once a connection has been established, your computer becomes part
of the Internet, and during the connection time you are a full network
user with absolutely all network resources available. The telephone from
which your modem contacts the provider will be busy during the entire period
of connection.
To render this service, the provider supports a modem pool in St. Petersburg,
ensuring the modulation standards ITU V.90, V.34+, V.32, V22 and others on
telephone number 320-3372. The PeterStar modem pool numbers 1,200 lines,
ensuring that 99% of dial-up access calls are successful at the first attempt. |
